    Description

Please read entire listing before making an offer. Thank you.
This is a Nikon SMZ1500 stereozoom microscope that I had an opportunity to pick up with some minor damage to the optics, but after looking through both eye pieces and the camera mount, I found that the effect of the scratching was minimal enough that it would still be great for many applications out there and I could offer it at an incredible price because of that. To ensure that you know exactly what you're getting, I took pictures of the scratching as well as through both eye pieces and also through the camera mount. The "specimen" is just a drawing of a butterfly on a microscope slide card. The first eye piece picture you see was taken with my phone through the right eye piece, and shows no visible blemishes. The second one is through the left eye piece, and you can see a slight band of blur toward the upper left of the circle of view, and that is the effect of the damage. The third picture that is square was taken through the camera mount and shows no visible blemishes, and that is with the B-clamp and reduction lens that comes included with this microscope(so a different magnification than the eye pieces of course), taken with an Amscope camera that will NOT be included with this microscope. It's also important to remember that your field of view will be dependent on the sensor size of your camera, so this is the field of view with this camera, but it will potentially be different with yours. Finally, there are two pictures of the actual lens to show that one side looks pretty good, and you can see the scratches on the other, which honestly look worse in the picture than in real life, and now you can see the effect that they have in function and practice. This scope is not flawless, but awesome for the price point.
With respect to the rest of the scope, any cosmetic damage is pictured but minimal, the scope is pretty darn clean overall, and the course and fine focus but move and feel as they should, though there is some slight vibration noise in course focus, but it might just be something that needs tightening. And again, it moves and feels just as it should.
Finally, this scope will obviously be a real bear to ship, but I want you to know that I'm going to be neurotic about packing it safely, and I will insure it along with requesting signature upon delivery. Thank you for considering this item.
