    Description

    This is a Michigan 3-digit
license plate for 1939 for Ontonagon County in the Upper Penninsula
    .
    (s-d)
License plates during these years were two plates, but we only
    acquired
this single.  I will be listing many more very rare and unusual plates from a 40+ year collector who is well-known, and a long time member of the Michigan License Plate Collector's Assoc. (MLPCA)
I am listing a wide variety of these plates at auction over the next week, so look at the others on my store to see if another fits your uses better.
Upon request, I will include the business card of a plate collector/restorer in the Grand Rapids Michigan area that you can have these plates restored at a very competitive price.  I've known him for several years back when I was selling car literature at swap meets.  His license plate display always looks very nice and I know he does all of his restorations.
Condition is good to very good but not excellent.
Structurally it is complete and is not rusted through around the mounting holes.
Enlarge the photos for a look.  The photos show you exactly what you are buying.
On grading any license plate I look at the mounting holes and overall condition.  Are the mounting holes elongated or worn larger?  Are there cracks or SHARP bends?  Minor warpage is fine, I don't pay attention to that.  But rust on steel plates or cracks and breaks in aluminum plates all affects the condition.  If I grade it fair or good it is most likely restorable.  Fair or poor means you should hang it on the wall as a conversation piece.  Or on the wall in your bar or restaurant.
Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs with insurance.
NOTE: I notice lately that when multiple orders are made from my store, Ebay stacks up all the individual postage costs and customers are paying it.  So I combine their order into one package, and I have made a practice of refunding all that extra postage back to the customer's Paypal account and doing it 3 times a week.
